Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is pain, tingling, and problems in your hand caused by pressure on the median nerve in your wrist. The median nerve and several tendons run from your forearm to your hand through a small space in your wrist known as the carpal tunnel. The median nerve controls movement and feeling in your thumb and first three fingers.

Common conditions that can cause carpal tunnel syndrome are obesity, pregnancy, hypothyroidism, arthritis, diabetes and trauma. Also, CTS is caused by tendon inflammation for repetitive work or any other condition that exerts pressure on the median nerve.

Tingling and numbness sensations are often more pronounced at night and can awaken you from your sleep. CTS can be related to a flexed wrist sleeping position. It can also be caused by fluid that accumulates around the wrist and hand while lying flat.

If you are suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, the sooner you start treatment, the better your chances are for stopping symptoms and also preventing long-term damage to the nerve. We have had great success treating carpal tunnel by using therapy, manipulation, bracing and nutrition.
